My review on Naturally Plus will help you make that choice by giving you the information you are looking for, including the company’s history, the products and the compensation plan.

Naturally Plus Review – The Company

Naturally Plus Review

The company operates within the nutrition MLM niche and is located in Tokyo, centered out Japan.

There are also company offices located in: Taiwan, Hong Kong, Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, Vietnam, Brunei and in the USA.

Founded in 1999, the company operates under the President and CEO, Takaaki Nagoshi.

The company biography for Nagoshi does not say much about him.

The bio it is pretty much a promotion for the company, by the company.

In the USA the acronym “NPUSA” is used to refer to the business, and it’s headed by up the Director and CEO, Takashi Tajima.

Beginning his career with an explosive success in the industry as a top distributor in a Japanese MLM company, earning several million USD in his 20’s, Takashi joined Naturally Plus as an executive in charge of opening one of the first offices overseas in Taiwan and Hong Kong.

With more than a decade of involvement, as a skilled trainer, he has guided hundreds of Naturally Plus Affiliates in Asia to achieve their success, and now, he takes the lead to bringing that opportunity to the United States.

Naturally Plus Reviews – The Products

Naturally Plus products

The company has two main products, Izumio and Super Lutein, respectively.

Izumio is promoted as “natural water infused with hydrogen” and is sold in pouches.

IZUMIO is a delicious, high-quality, natural water infused with hydrogen. IZUMIO contains water from the serene countryside of Japan, which is the source of hydrogen that provides antioxidative benefits.

The company says that the “number one selling hydrogenized water in the Japanese market” is Izumio.

Sold in 200 mL pouches, Izumio has no retail pricing details present on the company website.

Super Lutein is described as ‘a broad spectrum multi carotenoid nutritional supplement specially designed for eye and overall health’ and is offered in soft-gel capsule form (99 capsules per bottle).

Both of these products seem to be offered for retail.

The company offers a “buy now” link on the website and once you hit that button you are redirected to the registration form for company affiliates.

Naturally Plus Compensation Plan

Affiliates looking to take part in the company compensation plan are required to sign up and invest into the company.

The compensation plan I’m reviewing today will be based on the NPUSA documentation for company compensation.

The combination found in the compensation plan is the combo of retail commissions with a back-end in binary compensation.

There are also many performance bonuses offered along with sales volume achieved and matching on both sides of the binary team.

Some company compensation bonuses and commissions are centered on the GV (Group Volume) achieved.

GV is achieved when company affiliates and retail customers purchase company products.

The company says that 100 GV is earned by every purchase of either a box of Izumio or a bottle of Super Lutein.

Commission Qualification

In order to meet the qualifications for commissions, company affiliates need to:

  1. Be active and
  2. Sponsor and maintain at least one active affiliate or preferred customer

Any customer that agrees to have a discounted monthly autoship order is considered a preferred customer.

An affiliate or preferred customer is considered to be “Active” when he or she “purchase(s) products” from the company.

Retail Commissions

Company affiliates are paid by the company to retail products to customers (which includes preferred customers as defined by the company).

The compensation plan gives an example of how a typical $20 retail order and $10 preferred customer order would be compensated.

Day Cycle Bonus (residual commissions)

The company refers to residual commissions as the Day Cycle Bonus.

The company uses a binary compensation model to pay the Day Cycle Bonus through to its affiliates.

The binary compensation model puts an affiliate onto the top of a binary team, where the next level is divided into 2 sides (left/right).

The 1st level of a binary team will hold two positions and the 2nd level of the binary team is made by dividing the first two positions into a further two positions each, creating 4 positions in total on level 2.

Any future levels of the binary team are made as needed, and each new level will hold 2X as many positions as the level before it.

The binary team positions are filled through direct and indirect sponsorship of new affiliates.

NOTE:  The company does not limit the growth of how deep a binary team may grow to.

The Day Cycle Bonus treats each side of the binary team individually.

The (GV) Sales Volume from sponsored affiliates and retail customers is added up on a daily basis.

  • 400 GV matched = $50 bonus
  • 700 GV matched = Incremental $50 bonus
  • 1000 GV matched = Incremental $50 bonus
  • 1300 GV matched = Incremental $50 bonus
  • 1600 GV matched = Incremental $50 bonus
  • 1900 GV matched = Incremental $50 bonus
  • 2200 GV matched = Incremental $50 bonus
  • 2500 GV matched = Incremental $50 bonus
  • Each additional 300 GV up to 5000 GV = Incremental $50 bonus

An additional $50 to the Day Cycle Bonus total per day is added when each match level is achieved in a day.

NOTE: If a company affiliate has only 1 active sponsored affiliate or preferred customer, when they reach the 1300 GV level, the count resets and begins anew up until another 400 GV is achieved.

If a company affiliate has 2 active sponsored affiliates or preferred customers, when they reach the 2500 GV level, the count resets and begins anew up until another 400 GV is achieved.

If a company affiliate has 3 active sponsored affiliates or more sponsored active affiliates or preferred customers, a total up to 5000 GV is payable by the company in increments of 300 GV.

If a GV of 5000 is achieved in one day, the count then resets itself and will restart again until another 400 GV is achieved.

The Daily Cycle Bonus maxes out for a company affiliate at $24,000 monthly.

And a 25% matching bonus of $100 is also paid out every time a personally sponsored affiliate reaches the level of 2500 GV.

Additional Day Cycle Bonus Positions

Company affiliates can make an endless amount of Day Cycle Bonus positions called “BaseCenters.”

Simply put, you can imagine the BaseCenters as more binary positions put onto an affiliate’s existing binary team that’s already formed.

An option offered to affiliates is the ability to create new binary positions when they’ve, ‘earned the maximum number of points with (their) current BaseCenters,’ in accordance with the company compensation plan.

Frontier Bonus

Every month from the company-wide sales across the USA, 1% is taken and put into the Frontier Bonus pool by the company.

Company affiliates that are qualified for a share in the Frontier Bonus pool must have (on the last day of the month) 10 or more active sponsored affiliates or preferred customers.

And for every active 10 affiliates or preferred customers, a company affiliate will earn 1 share in the Frontier Bonus pool.

NOTE: Shares reset on a monthly basis (according to the criteria above) for the Frontier Bonus pool.

Spirit Bonus

1% of bi-monthly company-wide sales volume across the USA is taken and put into the Spirit Bonus pool by the company.

Those affiliates that meet the qualifying requirements every 2 months will qualify for a share in the pool.

Requirements to earn a share in the Spirit Bonus pool are that an affiliate must have 5 affiliates that achieve a minimum of 2500 matched GV in the Day Cycle Bonus on either side of their binary team.

One of the qualifying affiliates must be a personally sponsored affiliate or a referred preferred customer, as a minimum requirement.

Throughout the 2-month qualification period, affiliates qualifying for the Spirit Bonus must also maintain at least 2 active personally sponsored affiliates or preferred customers.

Lastly the final qualification needed is that a company affiliate needs to achieve at least 50% of the 2500 GV matched on both sides of the binary team in USA sales volume.

Upper Spirit Bonus

1% of bi-monthly company-wide sales volume across the USA is taken and put into the Upper Spirit Bonus pool.

In order to be qualified for a share in the Upper Spirit Bonus pool, an affiliate must have qualified 3 consecutive times for the Spirit Bonus first (3 consecutive bi-monthly periods).

When qualified, an affiliate will get a share in the bi-monthly Upper Spirit Bonus pool once they’ve continued to qualify for the Spirit Bonus.

Grand Spirit Bonus

1% of bi-monthly company-wide sales volume across the USA is taken and put in the Grand Spirit Bonus pool.

Company affiliates are qualified for a share in the Grand Spirit Bonus pool through qualifying for the Spirit Bonus 6 times, over 6 consecutive bi-monthly periods.

When qualified, an affiliate gets a share in the Grand Spirit Bonus pool every bi-monthly period thereafter.

Star Bonus

0.2% of Naturally Plus’ annual sales volume (Sep-Aug) is the Star Bonus, and it is paid out on the basis of affiliates gaining “Star Points.”

A company affiliate gets Star Points by downline affiliates (on both sides of the binary team) qualifying for the Spirit Bonus.

  • 1 pair of matched Spirit Bonus affiliates = 1 Star Point
  • 3 pairs of matched Spirit Bonus affiliates = 3 Star Points
  • 5 pairs of matched Spirit Bonus affiliates = 5 Star Points
  • 7 pairs of matched Spirit Bonus affiliates = 7 Star Points
  • 9 pairs of matched Spirit Bonus affiliates = 9 Star Points
  • 12 pairs of matched Spirit Bonus affiliates = 12 Star Points

From reading the compensation plan, I gather the Star Bonus is calculated bi-monthly, with the totalling amount of achieved Star Points used to calculate the final payout in August, where 1 Star Point will equal 1 Share.

More Star Bonus requirements are:

  • Remain qualified (active) each bi-monthly qualification period
  • Qualify for the Spirit Bonus
  • Maintain ten active sponsored affiliates or referred preferred customers
  • One personally sponsored affiliate must generate at 2500 GV in the Day Cycle Bonus on either side of the binary team or three on one side, within the two-month period

These requiring criteria needs to be met for every period of bi-monthly Star Bonus qualification.

Cost To Join Naturally Plus

The cost to join Naturally Plus as an affiliate is not disclosed on the company website (NPUSA).

Although I was able to find membership fees (in USD) on the company’s global website.

Through this information available, the cost to join Naturally Plus as an affiliate can cost upwards of $2330, based on what pack you start with:

  • Basic Starter Pack (registration fee + “product”) = $240
  • 1+3 Starter Pack (registration fee + “product” + autoship) = $760
  • 1+5 Starter Pack (registration fee + “product” + “present” + autoship) = 1190
  • 1+11 Starter Pack (registration fee + “product” + “2 presents” + autoship) = $2330

NOTE: Slightly cheaper options are offered at each tier, though the product pictured is not shown on the company NPUSA website, so they are not shown.

Also, the company compensation plan does mention a continual yearly affiliate membership fee of $30.

Verdict of Naturally Plus

Great you’ve made it to the end of my review, and now I can conclude that I think this company has a believable business model, but be careful of getting trapped into the company where the first thing you have to do sign up for an autoship (just like the rest of your potential team did, instead of just using the product to make money).

Well, I know hydrogen is already in water, so how can you really add more to make it better?

A doctor in an article from Time, issued in August 2017, is selling his own version of it and states:

“Even without that confirmation, hydrogen water is the next big thing in wellness in Japan.

The Ministry of Health recently approved hydrogen-infused saline IVs to help people recovering from infections and other conditions, and bathing in hydrogen water is becoming a popular spa treatment for fighting wrinkles and skin damage.”

So, this trend seems to be on the verge of a break through everywhere…and by signing up and selling it, you could be on the cusp of a new business venture waiting to take off everywhere… or not (so really be ready and do your own research).

One thing this company is not doing is disclosing their costs for their products for potential retail customers on their website, and it could be that they are asking a lot for a product that claims a lot of benefits without any scientific background backing those claims.

The products examined on Amazon showed that Izumio is offered by “Pop Party Supplies” for a box of 30 x 200 mL pouches for $175.

And there are no returns or refunds offered on this product according to the Amazon listing.

Super Lutein is offered as well on Amazon for $159 per bottle (100 capsules).

The company’s compensation plan is retail friendly though, even if the company’s website is not.

Retail commissions offered by the company and preferred customers have the added incentive of getting free products if they refer new preferred customers to the company.

And that’s mostly undone by two things: requiring affiliates to buy product and grouping preferred retail customers together with sponsored affiliates.

In the end, the company wants you to sign up, preferably with a 12-month autoship plan, and then encourage others to do the same and remain active in the company’s eyes.

If this is happening throughout the company, that affiliates self-purchasing is the focus instead of retail sales, the company would be really operating as a pyramid scam.

Being “active” is a big thing with the company’s compensation plan, and you need to purchase products to stay active, but there is no mention of the total amount that needs to be purchased.

And also, this is a “pay to play” thing and that is a red flag, because this goes against any regulatory compliance.

The good news here is that determining if retail volume is being ignored is easy.

A big factor for qualifying with the company compensation plan are “Active PSPs” that is specific to the Frontier and Spirit Bonuses.

PSP is defined as “personally sponsored person” and can be a personally sponsored affiliate or preferred customer.

And being active is a “state of having a valid period.”

What you should find out is how many of your potential upline’s PSPs are sponsored affiliates and how many are preferred customers (and don’t forget to ask for proof).

Really, the legitimacy of the company is the retail practicality of the product which sells for $30 a litre of hydrogenated water, and this seems overpriced to me…

My advice? Be cautious when investing with this company…
